What makes Recto stand out?

Recto follows naturally a certain workflow; collect everything organised in notes, within a folder structure, information, links, audio files, you name it. Recto stands out once you collect tasks as part of the information. Recto than automatically collects all task in one overview; Task Center.

For years I kept separate apps: one for writing, one for reminders and to-do's. They never talked to each other. The idea lived in the notes app, the deadline in the to-do app, and I lived somewhere in between.

So I built Recto. All on the same page. You just write a note and if you give a task a date with '@', that task automatically becomes part of your neatly organised Task Center.

No need to create an extra account, it uses the Apple ID you used for your device.

A project is rarely just a to-do list.

Almost everything I work on comes with context: why a task exists, who's involved, what was agreed, what the previous step was. A bare to-do list misses all of that; decisions that have been made, latest status of a configuration, whatever the context might be. So now you can put your task in context, that finally works.

Because once tasks are scattered across dozens of notes, one in "Renovation," another in "Clients," another somewhere in "Journal" you lose track. Not because the system is wrong, but because at some point you'd have to open fifteen notes just to know what's still left to do today.

That's what the Task Center is for.

It automatically pulls every task from every note, no matter which folder, no matter what it belongs to, into one place. Nothing to set up, nothing to tag, nothing to sync. You write a task the way you'd write it anyway, with the context around it, and it shows up wherever you need the overview.

No separate system to maintain. Just the same notes, plus a place that remembers what's still left to do.
